What would it look like if we could simultaneously look at both past and present? What shall we see if we cast an image we’ve seen just a moment ago - into the world we are looking at in this very moment? And how will that change if multiple moments – or whole five minutes – are added to the mix?
As we engage in this experiment, we could twist this riddle a bit if we are set in motion. It may look like a motion picture. Or, it could look like something else altogether.
I have been investigating and experimenting with this concept for the last two years. I allow photography techniques to unravel fascinating answers to these questions. My collage works from this period," Motion Stills", embody this continuous experience of observation while set in motion.
In my earlier works I was more engaged in the concept of patterns and their manifestations in natural phenomena. I believe that reducing the phenomenon to its basic patterns allows us to observe it in a new and enlightening way.
The one thing that has not changed over the years regarding my approach to photography – is the acknowledgment of the fundamental importance of the light and the way we treat it.
It might sound trivial but I truly believe that the more sensitive we are towards it – the more we can express through this medium.
